We’d like to congratulate Pete Norman who cycled 400 miles from Venice to Rome in just four days to raise money for The Burrow.
We recently hit and exceeded our target thanks to all of your fundraising activities including Pete’s! He tackled a climb of around 6,000 metres on his bike and raised a fantastic total of £2,350.00 in the process.
We had a chat with him to find out more about the adventure…
- Why did you choose the Venice to Rome route?
I have always wanted to visit Italy. I had never been to Venice or Rome before this and thought that there would be no better way to see the countryside than on a bike.
- What was your favourite moment during the ride?
Arriving in Orvieto, a simply stunning old village. We were perched on top of a rocky outcrop after a long hard day in the saddle and a last tough climb up to the town to finish after 95 miles in the heat.
- What did you find the most challenging during the ride?
Getting up and doing it all over again each day was tough as we knew what lay ahead. But, once we’d ridden for a while the legs started to work again!
- Can you sum up the experience in three words?
Truly memorable experience.
A big thank you to Pete and to all who donated!
