At 10am this morning, Simon Johns and James Coquelin launched into their attempt to break a world record in aid of the PPBF and The Ivy Trust. The challenge is sponsored by TPA Creative and is currently taking place at Tri Fitness until 10am tomorrow morning. The record that James and Simon are trying to break is the, ‘world 24 hour indoor rowing record for the Men’s 30-39 Lightweight category on the Concept 2 (“Erg”).
A massive amount of effort has been put in during the run up to this challenge and we would like to thank the boys (and everyone else involved) for working so hard to fundraise for both the PPBF and The Ivy Trust – a local charity that supports parents after the loss of a baby during / soon after pregnancy.
It was fantastic to see so many faces at the beginning of the challenge including James’ wife and his three daughters. James and Nikie’s youngest child was born six weeks premature in November so this challenge has a lot of personal meaning to them as a family.
#Row24 is also receiving support from Gemma and Emeline at Avenue Clinic as they gave the boys some physiotherapy earlier this afternoon and will be returning tonight and tomorrow morning.
Donations can be made by visiting: justgiving.com/Row-24 and over £4,000 has been raised so far! Lots of homemade treats are also being sold during the challenge so please head down to show your support! Follow Sam de Kooker on Twitter for the latest updates on the challenge.
